Stag Party Fancy Dress Themes

We have outlined our top themes to use in achieving an extraordinary Stag party. It is vital that you get the groom involved when deciding on a theme and give everyone enough time to plan and create their costumes. Notify the proprietors of any establishment you plan to visit that a group of 20 or so pirates/ superheroes will be visiting. Some owners will refuse, but others will enjoy the entertainment.
1. AUSTIN POWERS NIGHT – The groovy costumes (fitted velvet jackets, frilly white shirts and striped trousers), the funniest props (that heart-shaped thicket of chest hair, goofy teeth and glasses) and the hilarious expressions ("Do I make you horny?" and “Oh, be-haave!”) ensure that this theme will be a big hit with the female onlookers. Others in the group can impersonate Fat Bastard, Gold Member or Dr. Evil.
2. PRIESTS – Fans of Father Ted will love this theme. Get everyone to dress in priestly black clothing. The Stag could dress as Bishop Len Brennan (or Mrs. Doyle, depending on how cruel you’re feeling!) Priest collars, wild wigs and maybe a blue tank top will complete the costume. But needless to say, you’ll all resemble Father Jack by the end of the night. Altogether now ……"Drink!”, “Feck”, "Arse!","Girls!"
3. PIMPS – “Who’s your Daddy?!” To pull off this look you need lots of attitude, leatherette/ velvet suits or coats, a wide brimmed hat, and animal print should feature somewhere on the outfit. Accessorise with major bling, gold “grill” dentures, maybe a cane and definitely some hoes!!
4. MEN IN BLACK – This is an easy look to achieve for the group. Dress in sharp black suits, white shirts, black tie and compulsory shades. Visit a toy store and accessorise with Alien toys and sci-fi guns.
5. SUPERHEROES – There are a huge number of costumer crime fighters and villains to choose from. Popular ones include Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Daredevil, The Hulk, He-Man or anyone from the Fantastic Four. But you can always create some superheroes of your own! Remember; dressed in this costume, you are bound by the comic book hero code of honour to save all damsels in distress!
6. PIRATES - Yo ho ho and a bottle o' rum... Wear ruffle white shirts and waist coat, eye patches, pirate hat, toy swords, bandanas, dread locks wig, facial hair and eye liner to complete this get-up. Thanks to Johnny Depp, the ladies are lovin’ this look.
7. THE T-BIRDS - Bomber jacket, white tee shirt, click comb, Teddy boy's wig, white socks, short straight legged trousers. Play the “Grease” soundtrack in every bar/ club you visit and get the lads in line to do that dance. Even more fun if you can find a “Pink Ladies” hen party to hook up with!
8. RUGBY TEAM – This is an easy look for the group to achieve. Make all the lads to dress in the same rugby strip. Save any arguments and choose the national strip. You could all carry mini-rugby balls and when the “ref” calls for a line-out; everyone must raise the ball in the air and get in formation. Those who aren’t paying attention must do a forfeit shot.
9. SOLDIERS – Check out camping, army surplus shops or eBay for combats, kaki t-shirts, any camouflage gear and work boots. Implement the “leave no man behind” policy but in the likely event of drunken stupors, you could engrave dog-tags with the name, room number and hotel of each soldier so they can find their way home. Dressed as soldiers, just think of the endless physical forfeits you could punish each other with!
10. COPS & ROBBERS – Don the traditional black and white stripes or the Prison Break orange boiler suit, ball and chain, shackles, handcuffs etc can all be used to great effect. The Stag can be the only policeman or reverse it so that the Stag plays the convict and everyone else dresses as policemen.
11. NAVEL OFFICERS – Play out a popular ladies fantasy and dress in white navel dress suits, or wear white shirt, black tie, and white peaked cap and parade gloves. The burning question with this theme though is whether you will be gentlemen on the night?!
12. D-I-S-C-O – Be inspired by Saturday Night Fever! Raid the charity shops or the old man’s wardrobe for anything 70's such as flares, loud shiny, frilly shirts, waistcoats, platforms, anything paisley, white suits worn with black shirts. Grease back the hair or sport an obligatory jumbo afro wig.
13. CAVEMEN - Loin cloth, wild hair wigs, foam wooden clubs, wristbands, ankle bands and large bones. This is definitely a theme for summer months or warmer climes.
14. ELVIS - Another really popular theme for stag parties. You could do “The Three Ages of Elvis”! So don any Elvis costume and complete the look with side burns, large quiff and hamburger.
15. GLADIATOR - Another theme that is better suited to summer months or warmer climes. Wear gladiator costume, Roman sandals, plastic sword (check conditions to entry for venue first). The Stag can be the emperor with Roman toga, laurel headdress and harp.
16. NAUGHTY SCHOOL BOYS – Get everyone to wear stripy ties, caps, a blazer and shorts. The guy in charge could be play teacher complete with Mortar Board Hat and cane. Keep an eye out for naughty girls to misbehave with!
17. NIGHTMARE BRIDESMAID DRESSES - Why leave this zany theme just to the ladies? It should be easy to find a hideous outfit in any charity shop. Have everyone do a bad job on their makeup and give out prizes for the worst outfits and makeovers! A stag look guaranteed to stop traffic!
18. TENNIS STARS - Wimbledon provides the inspiration for this summer themed stag. Get everyone to wear the smallest, tightest white shorts and t-shirts. Don't forget to accessorise with naff sweat bands and battered old rackets. Maybe you could get the Stag to go as Bjorn Borg with a blond wig or dress him as Steffi Graf?
19. MATCHING T-SHIRTS - Get stag party slogan t-shirts for each lad to wear or even get them customised with an embarrassing picture of the Stag!!
